ROLE OF GOVERNMENT
"That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed.” Our Declaration of Independence states that the reason government exists is to protect the rights of its citizens. Here in America, our government is OF the people, BY the people, and FOR the people. Romans 13 illustrates this vividly in verse three in that “rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good , and thou shalt have praise of the same.” Clearly, our founders had a Biblical view of government when they wrote our Declaration of Independence.
In other words, government has a duty to punish evil and reward good. Government must make it painful to do wrong, and easy to do right. One of the two hallmarks of a just government is an orderly society, the other is justice. Order and justice are two sides of the same coin, one without the other is destined to fail.
Order without justice is tyranny, justice without order rapidly descends into anarchy. America is “one Nation under God, with Liberty and Justice for all.” As long as we adhere to that we can remain a “shining city on a hill.” When we stop, we will be on a short ride to the ash heap of history.

ABOLISH ABORTION
The duty of government is defined in our Declaration as the protection of life, liberty, and to a lesser extent - property. Our American system of jurisprudence follows the idea that it is better for ten guilty to go free than it is for one innocent to suffer. Our Constitution says that no person shall be deprived of LIFE, liberty, or property without due process. Yet this is exactly what abortion does - where is due process for the baby? Every week, here in Oklahoma, we allow the legal murder of some 90 innocent little baby boys and girls. Abortion is an affront to everything that is good and just about America. It is a mistake, a slap in the face of God, and we must stop and repent. Abortion is evil. Abortion is unAmerican.
I will author a bill that will abolish abortion in Oklahoma.
RIGHT TO BEAR ARMS & UNALIENABLE RIGHTS
The first ten and the 13’th, 14’th, and 15’th amendments to our Constitution address rights, not privileges. Rights come from our Creator, not government. They are immutable and cannot be repealed. Our Bill of Rights and amendments 13-15 may be added to, but not taken away. These rights are granted by God, protected by blood, and guaranteed by our Constitution, and SHOULD be protected by government. So-called “gun control” is more accurately and honestly described as “liberty control” or “people control.” I will never support any law that infringes on any human right. No red flag laws, no “assault weapons” bans, no magazine capacity or ammunition restrictions. EVER. Don’t touch our guns.
AGRICULTURE AND RURAL BUSINESS
Farmers, ranchers, and foresters work on and with the land every day. They are stewards and should be trusted to manage and produce for the long haul without government interference and infringement on private property rights. Having been raised in a multiple generation farming and ranching family, I have a full understanding of the struggle these businesses endure and the vital role they play in the rural Oklahoma economy.
I believe that the best way for government to help rural business is to stay out of the way and allow American ingenuity and work ethic to succeed, like it always has. Inevitably the old adage “the road to hell is paved with good intentions” proves itself time and again with government "intervention." The secret to American economic success in the past has been our reliance on ourselves and each other if necessary, not our reliance on government. We saw a need, talked with our friends and neighbors, and figured out how to make it happen. We didn’t need to be told TO do it, and we didn’t need to be told HOW TO do it. We just made it happen. That’s the kind of attitude that puts a man on the moon and wins wars. And it's the attitude that makes America Great.
RELIGIOUS FREEDOM
America is founded on traditional Judeo-Christian values. These values are vital to any truly free society. Freedom of religion and freedom of speech go hand in hand. From the beginning America has been about our unalienable right to live our lives according to the dictates of our faith and to share that faith publicly. This is the genesis of America and what makes her the greatest Nation the world will ever know.
MARRIAGE & FAMILY
The family is the first human institution created by God. Marriage is a lifetime covenant between one man, one woman, and God.
“Therefore, shall a man leave his father and his mother , and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.” Genesis 2:24. There are only two sexes - male and female. God made each of us how He made us for His reasons. "Medical" hormones and surgery will never take the place of God. The family has been under attack for many years and we see the results in our current cultural decay. We must promote and encourage the best design God's design for marriage and family.
EDUCATION
It is the right and responsibility of parents to direct their children’s upbringing and education whether public, private, charter, or education by other means without interference, regulation, or penalty from the government.
Locally elected school boards should have the authority to determine and implement all public school curricula, policies, and procedures for their districts. We the People expect excellence and accountability from all tax-funded institutions of education in Oklahoma. The federal government has no Constitutional role in education.
I oppose standardized testing, believing that the teacher has the best assessment of the individual student. I support responsible spending of education funds - on education - and oppose bloated administration and bureaucracy when it reaches a level that takes resources away from teachers and out of the classroom.
TAXES
Taxes are necessary to fund the necessary and just functions of government. However, government has a duty to be a good steward of the taxes they collect. We the people have a duty to be interested and involved in our government and how they spend OUR money. Our government is of, by and FOR the people. I believe that before government demands more money from you or me, it must prove to us that they have used what they already have wisely, that there is a legitimate need that is properly met by government (not family or church), and that the taxes we pay will be used for what we’ve been told they’re for. Too many times so-called teacher and state employee raises end up in the pockets of the insurance company that the teachers are forced to use.
